Library Resources Aid to Scientific Research Lecture successfully held
On October 29, 2019, the College of International Education (CIE) held a lecture on the theme Library Resources Aid to Scientific Research, which was presented by Dr. Feng Dong the Director of the Library Information Consulting Department of China University of Petroleum – Beijing (CUPB).
The lecture began at 3:30 pm and aimed to make new post-graduate students aware of the tools needed to carry out their research, a clear explanation of how to search for scientific articles through the university library website. In his approach, Dr Feng Dong also spoke of scientific journals such as SCI, EI, Elsevier, AAPG, SPE, SEG and others.
Dr Feng Introduced a search Engine 'Youyou Search' developed to ease search of literature materials for students in the university. He told students how they can access both hard copies of materials and digital resources through ‘Youyou search. He summarized by saying that Youyou search is a one stop search to all the available resources in the school library.
The lecture was chaired by Andrew Mbigiti (CIE Admission Officer), and was attended by all new postgraduate students, Liangyu Shi (Admission Officer – PG Student Co-ordinator) and Professor Zhang Yong Xue (CIE Dean). The new students learned a lot and this lecture laid a foundation for them to successfully carry out their research during their postgraduate studies.
